Linus Torvalds has tagged a commit as Linux 3.0-rc1.
That marks the end of the 2.6.x kernel series.
Tom West, the star of Tracy Kidder's Pulitzer-Price-winning book "The Soul of a New Machine," has passed away on May 19.
"The Soul of a New Machine" chronicled the design and development of a new computer at the computer company Data General, with Mr. West being the head of development.
